How do I withdraw from Upwork in Pakistan?

Upwork lists Pakistan among its Direct to Local Bank countries. The fee is $0.99 per withdrawal, and money should arrive within four days.

  • Your bank account name must match your verified name on Upwork.
  • Upwork says it can’t pay company accounts in rupees. Use a personal account.
  • A new withdrawal method goes live after a three-day security hold.
  • Hourly earnings become available ten days after the billing week ends. Fixed-price payments clear five days after the client approves.

Upwork also lists Payoneer and a US dollar wire ($50). It lists PayPal too, but PayPal does not serve Pakistan.

What are Fiverr’s withdrawal methods in Pakistan?

Fiverr pays out through PayPal, bank transfer via Payoneer, a Payoneer account, or the old Fiverr Revenue Card. The Revenue Card closed to new users in December 2022, and PayPal is not available in Pakistan. That leaves the two Payoneer routes.

You can withdraw up to $5,000 per transaction. Your choice of currency is permanent: to change it, remove the method and add it again.

Is Payoneer available in Pakistan, and what does it cost?

Yes. Payoneer says you can withdraw to a Pakistani bank account and receive rupees. Payoneer’s public fee page (last updated 1 January 2026) does not list Pakistan separately. It gives:

  • Withdrawal to a local bank: 1.2% to 4%, with a minimum of up to $20 in some countries.
  • Receiving from a client into a non-local currency account: 1% (minimum $1).
  • Receiving from another Payoneer user: free.
  • Annual fee: $29.95, only if you receive less than $6,000 in 12 consecutive months.

Profit reported in May 2025 that Payoneer began charging Pakistani users a flat 3% for withdrawals to foreign-currency bank accounts. Your account’s Fees section shows the rate that applies to you.

Can I use Wise or PayPal in Pakistan?

Wise: a client abroad with a Wise account can send rupees to any personal Pakistani bank account using your name and 24-character IBAN. It usually arrives the same day. Wise can’t send to business accounts in Pakistan or to Meezan Bank Express and Allied Bank Express accounts, and it can’t send money out of rupees.

We couldn’t confirm from Wise’s help pages whether someone living in Pakistan can open a Wise account to receive or hold dollars, so we don’t list that as an option.

PayPal: Pakistan is not on PayPal’s list of countries and regions, checked on 8 October 2026.

What is the Freelancer Digital Account?

“Freelancer Digital Account” is the name SBP gave this account type in its 2021 digital onboarding rules, and many banks still use it. SBP’s Framework for Freelancers Accounts (BPRD Circular No. 05 of 23 October 2023) replaced those rules and treats every Freelancer Digital Account as opened under it. Since July 2025 the same account sits in SBP’s Consolidated Customer Onboarding Framework as a “Freelancer Account”.

What the SBP framework says:

  • Who can open one: any individual living in Pakistan who is paid from abroad for digital or online services, including IT.
  • How: online or at a branch, with your CNIC (or NICOP/POC), a live photo if online, and NADRA biometric verification.
  • What you get: a rupee account and an ESFCA (Exporters’ Special Foreign Currency Account, a dollar account) opened together.
  • Balances: you can open with zero balance, and there is no maximum balance.
  • Decision time: the bank must open or decline within 2 working days of complete documents.
  • Cash: rupee cash only in Pakistan. You can’t take dollar cash out in Pakistan, but you can withdraw abroad with the debit card.

Under SBP’s Foreign Exchange Manual as revised in April 2026, you can keep 50% of export proceeds or $5,000 a month, whichever is higher, in the dollar account. You can spend it on work and personal payments abroad, such as software subscriptions, courses and certification fees, without SBP approval.

The bank must process export receipts and payments from the ESFCA within one working day. You give it a one-time declaration of your services, and freelancers no longer submit Form R for export receipts. The tax and SBP rules are covered in software and IT export from Pakistan.
