A PSID challan is a payment slip ID for one government payment. How to generate one in FBR's IRIS or ePay Punjab and pay it by bank app, ATM, branch or wallet.
AI Summary
A PSID (Payment Slip ID) challan is the reference number a government system creates for one payment. For federal taxes you create it in FBR's IRIS at iris.fbr.gov.pk/payment or the Tax Asaan app; for Punjab taxes such as token tax you create a 17-digit PSID in ePay Punjab. You pay it through internet banking, mobile banking, an ATM or a bank counter. FBR then issues a Computerized Payment Receipt (CPR) by email and SMS, which shows in IRIS within 24 hours.
A PSID challan is a Payment Slip ID: a reference number a government system creates for one payment. You generate it on the department’s portal, such as FBR’s IRIS for federal tax or ePay Punjab for token tax, then pay it through internet banking, mobile banking, an ATM or a bank counter. For FBR, the receipt (CPR) shows in IRIS within 24 hours.
Two systems most people use
FBR IRIS and ePay Punjab
FBR's ePayment 2.0 in IRIS creates PSIDs for income tax, sales tax, federal excise duty and withholding tax. ePay Punjab creates 17-digit PSIDs for token tax, vehicle transfer, property tax, professional tax, e-stamping and more. Checked 22 Oct 2026.
The government system creates a slip with a unique number for one payment and a fixed amount. Banks connected through 1LINK’s bill payment network can then collect the money against that number.
PSIDs are used by several departments:
| System | What you pay with a PSID | Where you create it |
|---|---|---|
| FBR ePayment 2.0 | Income tax, sales tax, federal excise duty, withholding tax | IRIS (iris.fbr.gov.pk/payment) or the Tax Asaan app |
| ePay Punjab | Token tax, vehicle registration and transfer, property tax, professional tax, e-stamping, mutation and fard fees, business registration fee | ePay Punjab app or website |
| Department portals | Fees such as a Punjab driving licence | The department’s own site, for example DLIMS |
FBR’s home page says to use iris.fbr.gov.pk/payment to create a PSID. FBR’s press release says ePayment 2.0 works for both registered and unregistered taxpayers.
Check the payment type and tax year before you confirm. A tax training institute’s guide (August 2026) says an IRIS PSID stays valid for 7 days and must be created again after that; we couldn’t find FBR’s own statement of the validity.
For filing the return the payment goes with, see how to file an income tax return.
FBR says you can pay a PSID straight from your bank account through internet banking, ATMs and mobile banking, with no bank visit.
FBR’s income tax page also says you can print the PSID and pay it at a National Bank (NBP) or State Bank (SBP) branch in the city you chose. 1LINK’s bill payment network lets member banks take government payments at branch counters as well as in apps.
After you pay, FBR issues a Computerized Payment Receipt (CPR). It’s your proof that the tax reached FBR, not just your bank’s confirmation.
If 24 hours have passed and no CPR shows, contact your bank with the payment reference before paying again. To check your tax status afterwards, see how to check filer status.
ePay Punjab is the Punjab government’s payment gateway, built by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) with the Finance Department. It creates a 17-digit PSID, different for every payment.
On a vehicle transfer, the excise department’s guide says the PSID also includes unpaid token tax if the vehicle is a defaulter. For token tax rates, see token tax in Punjab; for transfers, vehicle transfer in Punjab.
ePay’s own listing names three channels: internet banking, ATM and over the counter at a bank. PITB says the Finance Department, the State Bank, 1-Link and all scheduled banks process the payments. PakWheels’ July 2026 guide gives the menu paths:
| Channel | How |
|---|---|
| Bank app or internet banking | Bill Payment, then GoPb, then enter the PSID |
| ATM (any 1Link member bank) | Bill Payment, then GoPb, then enter the PSID |
| Bank branch (1Link member) | Hand the printed PSID to the teller and ask to pay under GoPb |
| JazzCash or Zindigi | Tap Pay Now on the PSID screen in the ePay app |
The FBR and PITB pages we read list no fee for paying a PSID. Your bank’s own charges for bill payments may still apply; see bank charges in Pakistan.
In ePay Punjab you start from the vehicle number: enter it under the excise service and the app shows the owner, vehicle and tax position before it makes the PSID. Traffic e-challans from cameras are a separate system; see e-challan Punjab.

A PSID (Payment Slip ID) is the reference number a government system creates for one payment. You enter it in your bank app, at an ATM or at a bank counter to pay the amount on the slip.
Create the PSID in IRIS (iris.fbr.gov.pk/payment) or FBR's Tax Asaan app, then pay it through internet banking, mobile banking or an ATM. FBR then sends a Computerized Payment Receipt (CPR) by email and SMS.
FBR says the CPR shows in IRIS within 24 hours of payment, and ePayment 2.0 has a PSID search to look up past payments. FBR's website also links an online verification portal at iris.fbr.gov.pk.
For Punjab ePay, PakWheels' July 2026 guide says the app's Pay Now button offers JazzCash and Zindigi. For FBR PSIDs, we couldn't find an FBR, JazzCash or Easypaisa page that confirms it, so use a bank channel if you can.
