How do I apply for a learner driving licence in Punjab online?

DLIMS has moved its services to Dastak, the Punjab government’s one-window platform, as the DLIMS site says in October 2026. You can use either website or the Dastak app.

  1. Create an account on DLIMS or Dastak and log in.
  2. Fill in the learner licence form and choose the categories you want (motorcycle, car and so on).
  3. Upload a photo of your face and scans of the front and back of your original CNIC. If you are over 50, add a medical certificate signed by a government doctor.
  4. Generate a PSID (payment slip ID) and pay it by ATM, online banking or mobile banking. The fee is Rs 500 for each category.
  5. Print the learner licence. DLIMS says it is available as soon as you pay, as a digital copy in your account.

While you learn, PakWheels’s 2023 guide says you must show a red “L” on the front and back of the vehicle and have a licensed driver in the passenger seat. The same guide says a learner permit lasts six months and can be renewed. Dastak lists Renewal of Learners Driving License as an online service.

How long do I wait before the driving test?

42 days from the learner permit. Punjab dropped the wait for about three months in 2024, then traffic police brought it back on 16 December 2024, Aaj News reported. In December 2025, Bol News again described the 42-day rule.

What happens at the licensing centre?

You go in person with your learner permit. As Aaj News reported in January 2025, you must pass a road sign test and a practical driving test, and bring a medical certificate from an authorised practitioner. The fee notice it reported applied from 7 January 2025.

In December 2025, Bol News reported that licensing centres in major cities such as Lahore open 24 hours, and those in smaller cities from 8 am to midnight. After you pass, you can download an e-licence while the card is posted to you.
