Meezan declares its savings rates monthly, and they follow what its deposit pool earns. These are its declared annual rates for individuals’ Rupee Savings and Bachat accounts, up to Rs 10 million:
| Month (2026) | Rate a year |
|---|---|
| January | 6.75% |
| February | 6.34% |
| March | 6.33% |
| April | 6.70% |
| May | 6.79% |
| June | 6.58% |
| July | 7.04% |
| August | 6.74% |
| September | 6.63% |
Since August 2026, Meezan has used tiers for individuals. For September, Rupee Savings and Bachat paid 6.63% up to Rs 10 million, 6.00% up to Rs 250 million and 6.74% above. The Senior Citizen Account paid 6.74% above Rs 10 million.
How the rate is set. Meezan’s savings pages say gross income is shared 50% to the bank and 50% to depositors. Each balance tier also has a weightage, which Meezan publishes on its savings pages. For October 2026, individuals’ weightages are 0.30 up to Rs 10 million, 0.32 up to Rs 250 million and 0.36 above.
Islamic banks don’t follow the 10% minimum that conventional banks must pay individuals (as of 15 September 2026, according to an Allied Bank explainer). They were taken out of that minimum from 1 January 2025 and must instead pay rupee savers at least 75% of their pools’ weighted average gross yield, Aaj News reported in November 2024. So Meezan’s rate isn’t known in advance.
Our calculation: at 6.63% a year, Rs 10 lakh earns about Rs 66,300 a year, or about Rs 5,525 a month, before tax and Zakat. Banks deduct tax on profit; see tax on bank profit and Zakat deduction from bank accounts.
If you can lock money away, Meezan’s certificates paid more for September 2026: 9.18% a year on a 1-year certificate with monthly profit (9.56% at maturity) and 10.12% on 1.5 years, both from Rs 50,000. The 1-month Monthly Mudarabah Certificate paid 7.12%. Meezan stopped new bookings and rollovers of its 2, 3 and 5-year certificates on 1 April 2023. To compare banks, see savings account profit rates.

What you get with it:

The Digital Freelancer Account is for resident Pakistanis who provide digital or online services, including IT work. It comes as a rupee current or savings account, and you can link it to an ESFCA to keep export earnings in US dollars.
Already have a Meezan account? Its Rupee Current and Rupee Savings pages say freelancers can open them with satisfactory proof of income. For other ways to receive client payments, see freelancer payment methods.
The Meezan Digital app opens Digital Asaan, Digital Remittance, Digital Freelancer, Rupee Current, Rupee Savings, Bachat and Roshan Digital accounts. It is for resident individuals who are new to Meezan, with a valid CNIC and, except for the Freelancer account, a SIM in their own name.
If the in-app fingerprint check fails, you have 60 days to verify at a branch. After that, Meezan blocks withdrawals from the account. For other banks’ apps, see open a bank account online.
The Senior Citizen Account is for people aged 60 or over, and for widows and differently-abled people of any age. It has no minimum balance and pays profit monthly: 6.63% up to Rs 10 million and 6.74% above, for September 2026.
It also waives the issuance fee on your first Visa Gold debit card, and branch SMS alerts are free. Internet banking, e-statements and pay orders are free as well.
