Yes, you can open a student bank account in Pakistan at any age, but the route depends on whether you are 18. Under 18, a parent or guardian opens a minor’s account with your B-form and their CNIC, and they run it with you. At 18 or older, you can open your own account with a CNIC. Meezan’s Digital Asaan Student account (ages 18 to 24) opens in an app with no deposit.

Children's savings accounts, autumn 2026

10% to 10.25%

HBL, UBL, MCB, Allied Bank and Bank AL Habib minor accounts paid 10% and Alfalah SnaPack 10.25% (rate sheets from August to October 2026). Meezan's Islamic Kids and Teens Club paid 6.63% for September 2026.

Can I open a bank account under 18 in Pakistan?

Yes. Every big bank we checked has a minor’s account, but you can’t open it alone. A parent or guardian applies with you; at Allied Bank, for example, every transaction on a child’s account needs their help. MCB takes minors under 18 with a natural guardian, or under 21 with a court-appointed guardian. Faysal Bank asks for a court order if the adult opening the account isn’t the child’s legal guardian.

At 18 or older, with a CNIC, you can open your own account, including the CNIC-only Asaan accounts. The app-based accounts we checked, such as HBL’s Digital Account and Raqami, are for 18 and over.

Which bank account is best for students under 18?

These are the minor’s accounts we could confirm. Rates are for balances up to Rs 1 crore unless stated.

Account Bank Ages Profit Opening deposit Notes
SnaPack Kids / Teenager Bank Alfalah Under 18 10.25%, monthly (21 Aug 2026) Rs 100 Free debit card and cheque book; Rs 10,000 daily card limit
Money Club HBL Under 18 10.00%, monthly (Oct to Dec 2026) Not stated Card free in first year; Rs 20,000 daily card limit
First Minor Savings UBL 1 day to 18 10.00%, monthly (Oct 2026) Rs 100 Pocket-money card to withdraw monthly profit
Fun Club MCB Under 18 (21 with court guardian) 10.00% on Fun Club Savings (Aug to Dec 2026) Not stated Branded debit card and cheque book
Rising Star Allied Bank Under 18 10.00%, daily to a wallet (Oct 2026) Rs 100 Rs 1 lakh cap per withdrawal; insurance to Rs 5 lakh
Young Savers Bank AL Habib Under 18 10.00%, twice a year (Aug 2026) None Rs 3,000 a day at ATMs; free first cheque book
Kids Club Meezan Under 12 6.63%, monthly (Sep 2026) Rs 500 Islamic; free Visa debit card
Teens Club Meezan 12 to 18 6.63%, monthly (Sep 2026) Rs 1,000 Islamic; first card free

For the most profit, the conventional accounts beat Meezan’s Islamic ones by more than 3 percentage points (September and October 2026). That gap exists because conventional banks must pay at least 10% on individual savings, and Islamic banks share actual profit instead. See Islamic vs conventional banking.

For low spending limits, Bank AL Habib’s Rs 3,000 a day ATM limit is the tightest we found. Bank Alfalah caps card spending and withdrawals at Rs 10,000 a day and HBL at Rs 20,000.

What documents are needed for a student bank account in Pakistan?

Under 18, banks ask for:

  • The child’s B-form (NADRA’s child registration certificate) or juvenile card. Faysal Bank also accepts a birth certificate or student ID card.
  • The parent’s or guardian’s CNIC.
  • At some banks, the parent’s or guardian’s proof of income. Allied Bank’s Rising Star asks for it.

At 18 or older:

  • Meezan Digital Asaan Student: your CNIC, proof that you study (a student ID or fee voucher) and a SIM card registered in your name.
  • HBL iD (ages 18 to 30): your CNIC, plus your student ID or salary slip. If you don’t earn, bring proof of income of the person who supports you.
  • Allied Bank Youth Asaan (18 to 35): CNIC only.

Which bank account is best for students aged 18 and over?

Account Bank Ages What you get
Digital Asaan Student Meezan 18 to 24 No opening deposit; free student debit card (no annual fee); no SMS charges; current or savings
iD HBL 18 to 30 Current account, no profit; first debit card free
Youth Asaan Allied Bank 18 to 35 CNIC only; no monthly charges; free fee transfers to institutions
Youth Allied Bank 18 to 35 No fee if you keep Rs 10,000 (ages 18 to 25); otherwise Rs 50 a month

Meezan’s student account is the only one in this table that we could confirm is free on all three common costs: opening deposit, debit card and SMS alerts. It’s an Asaan account, so it holds up to Rs 3 million with Rs 1 million of debits a month. That’s plenty for fees and pocket money; see Asaan account.

Some banks also waive costs for students on regular accounts. Bank Alfalah’s July to December 2026 schedule has no opening deposit and no service charges for students. Meezan’s Rupee Current Account has no opening deposit for students, and HBL’s Rs 50 low-balance charge doesn’t apply to students’ accounts.

How do I open a student bank account in Pakistan?

  1. Pick the account by age. Under 18, choose a minor’s account from the first table and go to the branch with your parent or guardian. At 18 or older, you can usually open one yourself.
  2. Take the documents. Under 18: your B-form and your guardian’s CNIC (and their income proof if the bank asks). At 18 or older: your CNIC and student ID or fee voucher.
  3. Open it at the branch or in the app. Meezan’s Digital Asaan Student account opens in the Meezan Digital Account Opening app. You need a CNIC for digital opening.
  4. Keep the tracking ID. Under State Bank rules, the bank must accept or decline your application within 2 working days of getting complete documents.
