The sources disagree on 5 kWh. SolarBazaar’s June guide lists Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh, well above the Rs 2.3 lakh to Rs 2.6 lakh in news reports from July to September 2026. We use the September report as the current figure because it is the latest; treat SolarBazaar’s range as the upper end for branded packs.

Are lithium battery prices going up or down?
They moved both ways in 2026:
1 Jul 2026: Karachi dealers cut lithium prices by around Rs 20,000, and a 5kWh battery sold for around Rs 2.3 lakh (ARY News).
2 Aug 2026: Traders raised prices by up to Rs 20,000 as hot weather and power cuts pushed demand. A 5kWh battery sold for around Rs 2.6 lakh (The Pakistan Connect).
20 Sep 2026: Prices of several sizes fell by Rs 20,000 to Rs 1 lakh. The report credits more imported stock and lower international battery costs.
Before the 2026-27 budget, the Pakistan Solar Association asked the government to remove import duties on batteries. Dealers later cut prices when extra taxes on solar equipment were not added in the budget.
The longer trend is down. Renewables First, citing BloombergNEF and Goldman Sachs data, says battery prices fell about 75% from over USD 460 per kWh in 2015 to about USD 110 in 2024. Pakistan imported 4.6 GWh of lithium-ion storage in 2025, up 220% on 2024. The same report estimates about 282,000 Pakistani homes with solar, roughly 1 in 26, have battery storage.

Notes on the table:
Cycle ratings are not tested the same way. Fronus rates 6,000 cycles at 80% discharge and 25°C. Pylontech says more than 6,000 cycles at 25°C, with 95% usable. Inverex says at least 6,000 cycles until capacity falls to 70% of new.
Tubular prices come from one Pakistani online shop on 10 Oct 2026: AGS, Exide and Hawk 180 to 185Ah models at Rs 40,000 to Rs 44,000, and 230 to 250Ah models at Rs 52,000 to Rs 56,000. The shop’s page dates conflict, so check with a dealer.
The tubular cycle figures come from Indian makers Exide Industries and Luminous, because we found no published ratings from Pakistani tubular brands. Pakistani models may differ.
What does each battery cost per usable kWh?
Compare how much of the battery you can use, and how many times. Our arithmetic below uses the prices and ratings above.

Tubular is cheaper to buy. Four 12 V 185Ah tubulars make a 48 V bank of 8.88 kWh for about Rs 1.76 lakh, giving 7.1 kWh usable at 80%. Lithium is cheaper per unit of energy over its rated life, if it reaches that life.
How long will a lithium battery back up my home?
Backup time is usable energy divided by load. A 5 kWh battery used to 80% gives 4 kWh, which runs a steady 1 kW load for about 4 hours, before inverter losses.
Work out the battery you need
Add up your loadWatts of what must run during a cut
Multiply by hoursGives kWh needed
Divide by usable depth0.8 for an 80% rating
Your inverter’s battery voltage matters too. The 5kWh-class lithium batteries we checked are 48 V or 51.2 V units. See our guide to the best inverters in Pakistan.
What should I check before buying a lithium battery?
Chemistry. Ask for LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) in writing. The Fronus and Inverex models we checked list it.
Usable kWh, not just nominal kWh. Pylontech’s US5000 is 4.8 kWh nominal and 4.56 kWh usable at 95%.
The cycle rating and its conditions. Ask at what depth of discharge and temperature the cycles were tested, as shown in the table above.
Who gives the warranty. Fronus states 5 years. The Inverex page we found is run by CityUPS, an authorised Lahore distributor, which lists 10 years. Get the warranty card and the name of the company that honours it.
Inverter compatibility. Pylontech’s US5000 talks to inverters over RS485 and CAN. Fronus lists its battery as compatible with Fronus inverters. Confirm your inverter supports the battery’s protocol.
How many you can add later. Pylontech allows up to 16 modules in one group, Fronus 15 and Inverex 32.
What is the price of a 5kWh lithium battery in Pakistan?
About Rs 2.3 lakh on 20 Sep 2026, down from about Rs 2.5 lakh, according to market reports. Other 5kWh-class batteries ranged from Rs 1.95 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh depending on brand and specifications.
Which is better, lithium or tubular battery?
Lithium costs more upfront but the models we checked are rated for 6,000 or more cycles, against 1,200 to 1,500 for tubular. Over its rated life, lithium works out at about Rs 9.6 per kWh, against Rs 16.5 to Rs 20.6 for tubular.
Is a gel battery better than a tubular battery?
Gel is sealed and needs no water topping, but it is rated for fewer cycles. Victron rates its deep-cycle gel batteries at 500 cycles at 80% discharge; tubular datasheets claim 1,200 to 1,500 at the same depth.
How much backup time does a lithium battery give?
Divide the usable kWh by your load in kW. A 5 kWh battery used to 80% gives 4 kWh, about 4 hours at a steady 1 kW load, before inverter losses.
What is the price of a 16kWh lithium battery in Pakistan?
16kWh models sold for about Rs 5.75 lakh to Rs 6.8 lakh on 20 Sep 2026. One common 16kWh battery fell from about Rs 7.5 lakh to about Rs 6.5 lakh.
