Extra cost on a Rs 244,999 laptop over 12 months
HBL ~Rs 34,200 · UBL ~Rs 45,100 · MCB ~Rs 62,100 · Qist Bazaar ~Rs 64,000
Bank figures are our estimates: markup on a reducing balance with equal monthly payments, plus the processing fee, before tax on fees. The Qist Bazaar figure is its listed advance plus 12 instalments. Rates as of October 2026.
We priced one new mid-range laptop across every plan we could confirm: the Acer Aspire Go 15 (AG15-72P-71MA), with an Intel Core 7 150U, 8 GB RAM and a 512 GB SSD. Daraz listed it at Rs 244,999 on 21 October 2026, with a 1-year Acer warranty, and Qist Bazaar listed the same model code on installment.
| Plan (12 months unless shown) | Needs | Monthly | Total paid | Extra over Rs 244,999 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HBL card, 24% a year + Rs 1,200 fee | HBL credit card | ~Rs 23,167 | ~Rs 279,200 | ~Rs 34,200 |
| UBL card, 29% a year + 2% fee | UBL Gold card or higher | ~Rs 23,764 | ~Rs 290,100 | ~Rs 45,100 |
| MCB card, 39% a year + 3% fee | MCB credit card | ~Rs 24,982 | ~Rs 307,100 | ~Rs 62,100 |
| Qist Bazaar, Rs 61,800 down | CNIC, 2 guarantors, cheques | Rs 20,600 | Rs 309,000 | ~Rs 64,000 |
| HBL card, 6 months | HBL credit card | ~Rs 43,739 | ~Rs 263,600 | ~Rs 18,600 |
| UBL card, 6 months | UBL Gold card or higher | ~Rs 44,356 | ~Rs 271,000 | ~Rs 26,000 |
The card rows are our calculations from each bank’s schedule of charges. HBL’s fees other than markup carry Federal Excise Duty (FED) of up to 16%, which adds a little more. Shorter plans cost much less: over 6 months, MCB’s comes to about Rs 36,000 extra.
Daraz’s price is one seller’s price, and laptop prices vary between shops. Get a cash quote from two shops, then compare the total of each plan with the lower quote.
You pay for the laptop with your card, then ask the bank to convert the purchase into monthly installments. If you don’t convert it, ordinary card markup applies: up to 42% a year at HBL and 44% at UBL and MCB.
Your card needs enough limit for the full price. UBL’s Classic card stops at Rs 124,999, so a Rs 244,999 laptop needs a Gold card (Rs 125,000 to Rs 499,999). To compare cards, see credit cards in Pakistan compared.
Daraz EMI works with Standard Chartered, MCB, Silkbank and Bank Alfalah cards on purchases of at least Rs 10,000, and conversion can take up to 7 working days. Its rate table is undated, so we don’t quote it.
Yes, through a shop plan such as Qist Bazaar. Its terms say it is a non-banking finance company licensed by SECP, and SECP’s list of 22 July 2026 names it as an approved buy-now-pay-later lender.
What Qist Bazaar asks for, from its own pages (checked 18 Oct 2026):
For other no-card options, see buy now pay later in Pakistan.
Possibly, but its page doesn’t say so. Meezan Consumer Ease is Islamic financing (Musawamah) for durable goods, and its page names air conditioners, refrigerators and generators. You get a limit, then buy from the bank’s range of products, including through its MeezanSouq app at selected stores.
| Consumer Ease (as of October 2026) | Detail |
|---|---|
| Limit | Rs 35,000 to Rs 10 lakh, valid 3 years |
| Tenures | Up to 24 months |
| Down payment | 5% to 50% of market price |
| Minimum income | Rs 25,000 (salaried) or Rs 40,000 (business) gross a month |
| Instalment cap | 35% of net monthly income |
| Processing fee | Rs 2,200, plus documents at actual |
Ask Meezan whether laptops are in its range and for the total you will repay, since the page gives no profit rate. Meezan’s laptop financing document did not open for us on 21 October 2026.
Some card plans charge 0% markup on selected products, but none we found is free of fees. UBL advertises 0% markup on more than 1,000 products from partner shops, and MCB runs 0% markup on selected brands through EasyPay Alliance promotions.
Ask for the total in rupees, including the processing fee and tax, and compare it with the cash price at two shops. A 0% plan on a laptop priced above the market is not cheaper.
Yes, if you qualify, and it costs nothing. The PM Youth Laptop Scheme gives laptops on merit to students at recognised public institutions with a CGPA of 2.80 or 60% marks. The CM Punjab Laptop Program gives Core i7 13th-generation laptops to Punjab-domiciled students; BS students need 65% in intermediate.
The Punjab programme charges no fee to apply or to receive a laptop, and you can’t get one if you already received a laptop from any scheme. On 18 October 2026, Punjab’s information minister said the second phase of the laptop scheme had been launched. Who qualifies and how to apply is in our PM laptop scheme guide.

Yes. Qist Bazaar needs no card: you pay an advance on delivery, give post-dated cheques and name two guarantors. It costs more: Rs 309,000 in all on an Acer laptop that Daraz listed at Rs 244,999 on 21 Oct 2026.
UBL and MCB run 0% markup plans on selected products from partner shops, but processing fees still apply. Ask for the total in rupees and compare it with the cash price at two shops.
Meezan's Consumer Ease finances durable goods from the bank's own range of products, but its page names ACs, fridges and generators, not laptops. Ask Meezan whether laptops are in the range before you apply.
