What a free AI plan really includes

Free plans differ on models, limits and features, and the limits change. Here is what Claude, Gemini and Copilot say, as of 28 Oct 2026.

Four things to check on any free plan

Which model you get, how much you can use before you are slowed or stopped, which features are left out, and whether the plan works from Pakistan.

Vendors change these often. A figure with no date is not worth trusting, including ours, so every figure below carries the date we read it.

Claude (Anthropic), read on 28 Oct 2026

Anthropic's pricing page lists the Free plan at $0. It includes chat on web, desktop and mobile, web search, file creation and code running, memory across conversations, artifacts, voice mode and up to 5 projects.

On models, Sonnet and Haiku are marked Yes and Opus and Fable are marked No. The page says usage limits reset on a rolling five-hour window, and that Anthropic may also apply other limits such as weekly and monthly caps. It does not state whether the plan works in Pakistan.

Gemini (Google) and Copilot (Microsoft), read on 28 Oct 2026

Google's support page says Gemini is free with a Google account and lists "standard limits" for people without an AI plan, with no daily number. It says limits can change without notice, and gives a 32k-token context window for free users. Deep Research may be unavailable at busy times.

Microsoft publishes no fixed count of free Copilot prompts. Its page we could read covers paid Microsoft 365 plans only, so we leave the free number out. Copilot inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook needs a paid Microsoft 365 plan, so confirm on Microsoft's page before you pay.

Still to come: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Grok, Meta AI

Those vendors' pages blocked our reading on 28 Oct 2026, and the third-party figures we found disagreed, so we publish none. We will add them once we have read the vendor pages. Nobody pays to be included or ranked here.

Try it

Read your own free plan

Open the pricing or limits page of the AI tool you use most.

  1. Write down the model name, the stated limit and the date on the page.
  2. Find one feature that is paid-only.
  3. Check whether the page says anything about Pakistan, or about changes without notice.

What to look for: A limit with no number, or a page with no date, means you should test the tool for a week before you rely on it.

A website says a tool gives you "unlimited free prompts". What do you check first?

The vendor's own pricing or limits page and its date. Third-party claims often disagree with each other and with the vendor, and limits change.

This course is free and always will be. Nobody pays to be included, ranked or recommended in it. Progress is saved only in this browser. Clearing site data resets it.
