## Summary

UBL offers three Visa credit cards: Classic, Gold and Platinum. As of its July to December 2026 schedule, annual fees are Rs 6,000, Rs 12,000 and Rs 22,000 before FED, and limits run from Rs 25,000 on Classic to Rs 70 lakh on Platinum. Retail spending and cash advances carry a 44% APR, foreign transactions Rs 100 or 4.5%, whichever is higher. The annual fee is reversed if you spend Rs 50,000, Rs 100,000 or Rs 300,000 within 60 days. UBL publishes no minimum salary on its card pages.

## Key facts

- Annual fee: Rs 6,000 to Rs 22,000 + FED
- Markup (APR): 44% a year
- Foreign transactions: 4.5% (min Rs 100)
- Credit limit: Rs 25,000 to Rs 70 lakh

A UBL credit card comes in three types for new applicants: **Visa Classic**, **Gold** and **Platinum**. As of UBL's July to December 2026 schedule, the annual fee is **Rs 6,000**, **Rs 12,000** and **Rs 22,000**, before tax. The type mostly sets your credit limit and perks.

The cost of borrowing is the same on all three: **44% a year** on any balance you don't pay off.

**Cost of carrying a balance on any UBL card:** 44% a year (APR on retail purchases and cash advances, from UBL's Schedule of Charges effective 1 July 2026 and its 2026 Summary Box. Cash on Phone is 35%, installment plans 29% and balance transfers up to 28%.)

## What are the UBL credit card types and charges?

The table puts UBL's three Visa cards side by side. Fees are from the Schedule of Charges effective 1 July 2026, and limits from UBL's 2026 credit card Summary Box.

| | Classic | Gold | Platinum |
|---|---|---|---|
| Annual fee (basic) | Rs 6,000 | Rs 12,000 | Rs 22,000 |
| Supplementary card | Rs 3,000 a year | Rs 6,000 a year | Rs 11,000 a year |
| Credit limit range | Rs 25,000 to Rs 124,999 | Rs 125,000 to Rs 499,999 | Rs 500,000 to Rs 7,000,000 |
| Spend to reverse the fee (60 days) | Rs 50,000 | Rs 100,000 | Rs 300,000 |
| Reward points | 1 per Rs 100 | 1 per Rs 100 | 1 per Rs 100, 3 per Rs 100 abroad |
| Main perk | None listed | None listed | CIP lounges on international trips, valet parking |

UBL's schedule lists these amounts excluding FED (Federal Excise Duty) and other government levies. So the annual fee you pay is higher than the table shows.

UBL's Platinum fee went up in July 2026. The January to June 2026 schedule listed it at Rs 20,000, with a Rs 10,000 supplementary card. Classic and Gold fees didn't change.

## Which UBL credit card is best?

Each card type covers a band of limits, so the card you get depends on the limit UBL gives you. On UBL's published terms, three things decide whether the bigger card is worth it:

- **Your limit.** A limit under Rs 125,000 means Classic. Rs 125,000 to Rs 499,999 means Gold, and Rs 500,000 or more means Platinum.
- **Whether you'll get the fee back.** Our calculation: reversing the Platinum fee needs Rs 300,000 of purchases in 60 days, about Rs 150,000 a month. Classic needs Rs 50,000 in the same period.
- **Travel.** Only Platinum earns 3 points per Rs 100 spent abroad and includes CIP lounge access at five Pakistani airports.

If you'll often carry a balance, the perks matter less than the 44% APR, which is the same on every card. ## How do I get the UBL credit card annual fee reversed?

UBL reverses the annual fee if you and your supplementary cardholders together spend enough on purchases within **60 days** of the fee being charged or of the card's anniversary date:

- **Classic:** Rs 50,000
- **Gold:** Rs 100,000
- **Platinum:** Rs 300,000

Only purchases count. Cash advances don't. The FED charged on the annual fee is **not** reversed, so you still pay that part.

**UBL's fee reversal page shows two tables:** UBL's annual fee reversal page also carries an older, unlabelled table with a Platinum fee of Rs 20,000 and a Rs 250,000 spend target. The Visa table on the same page, the July to December 2026 schedule and the 2026 Summary Box all say Rs 22,000 and Rs 300,000. We follow the schedule.

## What does the UBL Visa Platinum credit card offer?

As of 1 July 2026, Platinum costs **Rs 22,000 a year** and each supplementary card **Rs 11,000**, before FED. Limits run from **Rs 500,000 to Rs 7,000,000**, according to the 2026 Summary Box.

What UBL's Platinum page lists:

- **Airport lounges:** free CIP lounge access, without a guest, at Islamabad, Lahore, Multan, Quetta and Sialkot airports, on international travel only. UBL also mentions Priority Pass membership "on choice" for over 1,000 lounges worldwide, but doesn't publish its terms.
- **Reward points:** 1 point per Rs 100 spent in Pakistan and 3 points per Rs 100 equivalent spent abroad. You can use points against your outstanding balance.
- **Valet parking:** free at listed malls and hotels in Karachi, Hyderabad and Lahore.

UBL's product page values 1 point at **Rs 0.30**, and points expire after 18 months. By our calculation that is 0.3% back on spending in Pakistan and 0.9% abroad. Abroad, that is far less than the 4.5% foreign transaction charge.

## What are UBL credit card charges on international transactions?

UBL charges **Rs 100 or 4.5% of the transaction amount, whichever is higher**, as of 1 July 2026. Government levies come on top.

Our calculation: on a Rs 50,000 purchase abroad, the charge is Rs 2,250. The Rs 100 minimum applies only to transactions below about Rs 2,222.

The charge also applies when a merchant is outside Pakistan or settles in another currency, even if it processes the payment in rupees. UBL's FAQs explain the conversion: Visa or Mastercard converts the amount into US dollars, then UBL buys those dollars in the open market at the going rate.

On top of UBL's charge, banks collect advance income tax under section 236Y on card payments abroad. As of FBR's rate card updated for the Finance Act 2026, it is **0.5%** if you are on the Active Taxpayer List (ATL, whether you count as a filer) and **1%** if you are not. See [filer vs non-filer](/business/guides/filer-vs-non-filer/).

## What is the UBL credit card markup?

UBL publishes its rates as APR (annualised percentage rate). As of the July to December 2026 schedule and the 2026 Summary Box:

| Charge | Rate or fee |
|---|---|
| Unpaid purchases | 44% a year (3.666% a month) |
| Cash advance | 44% a year |
| Cash on Phone | 35% a year |
| Lite Installment Plan (LIP) | 29% a year |
| Balance transfer | Up to 28% a year |
| Late payment fee | Rs 2,200 |
| Over limit fee | Rs 1,600 + FED |

You avoid markup on purchases by paying the full balance by the due date. The Summary Box gives up to **50 days** interest-free on purchases, but none on cash advances, balance transfers or installment plans.

The minimum payment is **5% of the balance or Rs 500, whichever is higher**. If you pay less than the full amount, UBL's FAQs say the service fee runs from each transaction date.

If you miss even the minimum, UBL charges the late fee and blocks the card from the next statement date. The late fee was Rs 2,000 in the January to June 2026 schedule.

Other UBL card charges, as of 1 July 2026: card replacement Rs 1,200, card conversion or upgrade Rs 1,000 and returned cheque Rs 1,000. SMS alerts, utility bill payments, duplicate statements and card cancellation are free.

Since 1 September 2014, SBP has required banks to give anyone applying for a credit card a Summary Box with the APR, fees, limits and minimum payment, and to keep a copy signed by the customer. Read it before you sign.

## How much does UBL charge for cash withdrawal on a credit card?

A cash advance costs **Rs 1,200 or 3% of the amount, whichever is higher**, as of 1 July 2026. The 44% APR applies from the day you withdraw until you pay it back. You can take out up to **50% of your credit limit** at UBL branches and at Visa or PLUS ATMs.

Our calculation: on Rs 20,000, 3% is Rs 600, so you pay the Rs 1,200 minimum. The 3% only costs more than Rs 1,200 above Rs 40,000.

UBL also offers **Cash on Phone**: up to 50% of your limit paid into your UBL account or as a pay order. It costs Rs 1,000 or 2% (whichever is higher) to book, then 35% a year.

**UBL's FAQ shows an older cash advance fee:** UBL's credit card FAQ still says Rs 1,000 or 3%. The July to December 2026 schedule and the 2026 Summary Box both say Rs 1,200 or 3%. We follow the schedule.

The schedule also notes that withholding tax applies when the day's transactions exceed Rs 50,000.

## How does the UBL credit card installment plan work?

UBL's Lite Installment Plan (LIP) turns a purchase of **Rs 5,000 or more** into equal monthly payments over 3, 6, 12, 18, 24, 30 or 36 months. You book it by calling UBL on 111-825-888. As of 1 July 2026:

- **Booking fee:** Rs 1,000 or 2% of the amount, whichever is higher, for each purchase.
- **Markup:** 29% a year on standard LIP. UBL also lists 0% markup installments on over 1,000 products at partner merchants.
- **Cancelling:** Rs 1,000 or 5% of the outstanding amount, whichever is higher. **Settling early:** Rs 1,000 or 5% of the transaction amount, whichever is higher.

UBL also has a **balance transfer** to pay off other banks' cards. On the promotional 0% APR version, you pay a one-time fee instead: 5.25% for 3 months, 9% for 6, 12.75% for 9 and 16.5% for 12 months. So the "0%" plan still has a cost.

## What are the UBL credit card limits, and how do I increase mine?

The 2026 Summary Box gives a limit band for each card: **Rs 25,000 to Rs 124,999** on Classic, **Rs 125,000 to Rs 499,999** on Gold and **Rs 500,000 to Rs 7,000,000** on Platinum. Your own limit is on your monthly statement.

To ask for more, send UBL's Limit Enhancement Request form, or a written request, to the UBL Card Center in Karachi. Attach income documents (a bank statement, salary slip or salary certificate) and a CNIC copy. The fee is **Rs 1,000** as of 1 July 2026, and UBL can refuse.

You can have up to **6 supplementary cards**. Supplementary cardholders must be at least 14, with no upper age limit. Each gets 100% of your limit unless you cap it.

## How do I apply for a UBL credit card?

1. **Check what you might qualify for.** UBL doesn't publish a minimum salary for any card. Its online form asks for your income band, starting at Rs 20,000 to 49,000, and whether you are salaried or self-employed.
2. **Apply online.** Fill in UBL's Apply Now form with your name, mobile number, email, CNIC, income band, profession and city.
3. **Consider a lien-marked card if you have savings but no salary.** UBL gives 70% of an amount you lien in your UBL account as your credit limit. It names housewives, senior citizens and retired people as users.
4. **Read and sign the Summary Box.** It lists your APR, fees and minimum payment. It also says UBL may get your data from credit bureaus.
5. **Activate the card.** Call 111-825-888 when it arrives.

## I had a Silkbank credit card. What happens now?

SBP approved Silkbank's merger into UBL on 10 March 2025, and Silkbank stopped existing as a separate bank from 11 March 2025, Profit reported. UBL's schedule prices former Silkbank cards separately, as of 1 July 2026:

| Ex-Silkbank card | Annual fee | Supplementary |
|---|---|---|
| Mastercard Standard | Rs 4,000 | Rs 2,000 |
| Mastercard Gold | Rs 8,000 | Rs 4,000 |
| Mastercard Titanium | Rs 14,000 | Rs 7,000 |
| Mastercard Platinum | Rs 18,000 | Rs 9,000 |
| Visa Signature | Rs 30,000 | Rs 15,000 |

UBL says former Silkbank customers' services continue and that changes are announced in advance. Former Silkbank cardholders have a dedicated team on 021-37130360 and 021-38655255.

## Does UBL have an Islamic credit card?

No. UBL's credit card page lists only the Visa Classic, Gold and Platinum cards, as of 16 October 2026. The UBL Ameen (Islamic banking) section of the July to December 2026 schedule lists debit cards only.
