## Summary

With a credit card, HBL's installment plan charges 24% a year plus a Rs 1,200 fee and UBL's 29% a year plus Rs 1,000 or 2%, as of their 2026 schedules. Without a card, Samsung's plan through Qist Bazaar takes 30% down and turns a Rs 70,000 balance into Rs 75,600 over 3 months or Rs 95,900 over 12. Daraz EMI needs a partner-bank credit card. '0%' plans still carry processing fees. Check the phone's PTA status before paying.

## Key facts

- Card plan cost: HBL 24% + Rs 1,200; UBL 29% + Rs 1,000 or 2%
- Without a card: Qist Bazaar: 30% down, 3 to 12 months
- Daraz EMI: Credit card, min Rs 10,000, one item
- PTA check: SMS each IMEI to 8484

For a mobile on installment in Pakistan, a credit card plan is usually the cheaper route if you already have a card. HBL charges **24% a year plus Rs 1,200** and UBL **29% a year plus Rs 1,000 or 2%**, as of their 2026 schedules. Without a card, Samsung's plan through Qist Bazaar takes **30% down** and turns a Rs 70,000 balance into **Rs 95,900** over 12 months. Check the phone's PTA status before you pay.

**Extra cost on Rs 70,000 over 12 months:** HBL ~Rs 10,600 · UBL ~Rs 12,900 · Qist Bazaar Rs 25,900 (Bank figures are our estimates: markup on a reducing balance with equal monthly payments, plus the processing fee, before FED. The Qist Bazaar figure is from Samsung Pakistan's own example. Rates as of October 2026.)

## What does a mobile on installment really cost?

The table compares the plans we could confirm from the bank, shop or app's own page, as of October 2026.

| Plan | Needs | Markup | Fees | Tenures |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HBL Installment Plan (HIP) | HBL credit card | 24% a year | Rs 1,200 processing | Not stated in schedule |
| UBL Lite Installment Plan (LIP) | UBL credit card | 29% a year (2.416% a month) | Rs 1,000 or 2%, whichever is higher | 3 to 36 months |
| Daraz EMI | Partner-bank credit card | Set by the bank | Set by the bank | Set by the bank |
| Samsung BNPL by Qist Bazaar | Qist Bazaar approval, no card or bank account | Built into the price | 30% down in cash | 3, 6, 9 or 12 months |
| JazzCash Yeylo | JazzCash account | Fixed charges, amount not confirmed | Not confirmed | 3 payments |

Paying a phone on your card without converting it costs more. HBL's charge on ordinary card purchases is up to **42% a year** and UBL's **44%**, so ask for the installment plan as soon as you buy.

## How do HBL and UBL credit card installment plans work?

You buy the phone on your card, then ask the bank to convert the purchase into monthly installments.

**HBL Installment Plan (HIP):** HBL's July to December 2026 schedule charges **24% a year** on the outstanding amount and a **Rs 1,200** processing fee. Paying off early costs **6%** of the remaining principal. Fees other than the markup carry Federal Excise Duty (FED) of up to 16%.

**UBL Lite Installment Plan (LIP):** you can convert any purchase of **Rs 5,000** or more by calling **111-825-888**. UBL's key fact statement for January to June 2026 lists **29% a year** and a processing charge of **Rs 1,000 or 2%** of the amount, whichever is higher. Cancelling costs Rs 1,000 or 5% of the outstanding amount, whichever is higher, and no interest-free period applies.

Your card limit caps the phone you can buy. UBL's Classic card limit is Rs 25,000 to Rs 124,999 and its Gold card Rs 125,000 to Rs 499,999. If you don't have a card yet, see [how to apply for a credit card](/money/guides/how-to-apply-for-credit-card/) and [credit cards in Pakistan compared](/money/guides/credit-cards-pakistan-compared/). ## Can I get a mobile on installment without a credit card?

Yes. Samsung Pakistan's Buy Now Pay Later plan is run by **Qist Bazaar (Pvt.) Limited**, and it needs no credit card or bank account. You pay **30%** of the price in cash at delivery and the rest over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months.

Samsung's own example for a Rs 100,000 phone, after Rs 30,000 down:

| Tenure | Total you repay on Rs 70,000 | Monthly | Extra over the price (share of the Rs 70,000 balance) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 months | Rs 75,600 | Rs 25,200 | Rs 5,600 (8%) |
| 6 months | Rs 82,600 | Rs 13,767 | Rs 12,600 (18%) |
| 9 months | Rs 89,600 | Rs 9,956 | Rs 19,600 (28%) |
| 12 months | Rs 95,900 | Rs 7,992 | Rs 25,900 (37%) |

The plan covers only Galaxy smartphones priced between Rs 10,000 and Rs 150,000. It is available in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Hyderabad and Sukkur.

**Missed payments can lock the phone:** Samsung says the phones come with Knox Guard installed. If you miss payments, Qist Bazaar may lock the phone for a while or for good, and may pursue recovery, including an FIR.

We couldn't confirm Qist Bazaar's document requirements, such as whether guarantors are needed, from its own website. Ask before you order.

## Can I get a mobile on installment from Jazz?

JazzCash launched **Yeylo**, a Buy Now Pay Later service inside the JazzCash app, in June 2026. It splits a purchase into **three payments** with fixed charges, and spending limits go up to **Rs 50,000**. Xiaomi was one of its launch partner brands.

You can use Yeylo through JazzCash QR, the app and online checkouts. We couldn't find the actual charge in a reliable source, so check it in the app before you confirm. For the wallets themselves, see [Easypaisa vs JazzCash](/money/guides/easypaisa-vs-jazzcash/).

## How do I buy a mobile on installment from Daraz?

Daraz's Easy Installments (EMI) works only with a partner bank's credit card. Its terms page sets these rules:

- The order must be **one item** worth at least **Rs 10,000**.
- Your card needs enough available limit for the **full price**.
- Conversion can take up to **7 working days**, so buy at least 7 working days before your statement date.
- If the order is cancelled, you must call your bank to cancel the installment plan.

The terms page lists Standard Chartered, MCB, Silkbank and Bank Alfalah as partners. Daraz's other pages also mention UBL and Askari, so go by the banks shown at checkout. The page's rate table is undated and its example is from 2019, so we don't quote its rates as current.

## Is a mobile on installment in Pakistan ever without interest?

Some plans are **0% markup**, but that isn't the same as free. Banks still charge a processing fee, and FED applies to fees.

- UBL advertises 0% markup installments on more than 1,000 products from partner merchants, separate from its ordinary 29% plan.
- On Daraz's Apple store, Standard Chartered cardholders on the bank's 0% EMI plan got a 7% discount on iPhone 18 phones, with tenures up to 12 months. That offer ended on 9 October 2026.

Before you sign a 0% plan, ask for the processing fee in rupees and add it to the price. Then compare that total with paying cash.

## What about Meezan Bank, Bank Alfalah and Easypaisa?

We couldn't confirm their phone installment terms from an official source. Bank Alfalah's website blocked our checks, and we found only press and blog reports of its iPhone plans, with differing processing fees.

For Meezan Bank, we couldn't open the bank's own document on phone financing. We found no source for an Easypaisa phone installment plan. Ask the bank or app for its schedule of charges before you apply.

## How do I check the phone is PTA approved before I pay?

Do this before you sign any installment plan or pay a down payment.

1. Dial **\*#06#** to see every IMEI on the phone.
2. Send each IMEI by SMS to **8484**, or check it in PTA's DVS app or at dirbs.pta.gov.pk.
3. It should show as compliant or registered, and the model should match the phone.

An unregistered phone works for **60 days** from its first connection. After that, it is registered only once the FBR duty and taxes are paid, plus a fine. If the IMEI is registered to someone else's CNIC or passport, PTA says to get the PSID and customs duty record from the seller, and that buying such a phone is at your own risk.

Since 1 July 2026, the Finance Act 2026 lets individuals pay the tax on imported phones registered through DIRBS in instalments, Profit reported on 30 June 2026. All instalments must be paid before the end of the financial year in which the phone was imported. We couldn't confirm that the instalment option is already working in DIRBS, so ask before you rely on it. For how duty is worked out, see [customs duty in Pakistan](/business/guides/customs-duty-pakistan/).
