## Summary

The CM Punjab Green Tractor scheme gives a subsidy on new tractors through a digital ballot. In 2026-27 there are two rounds: Phase IV gives Rs 7.5 lakh on 10,000 tractors of 50 to 65 hp for farmers with at least 5 acres, and Phase 5 gives Rs 10 lakh on 9,500 tractors of 75 to 125 hp for farmers with at least 7 acres. Phase IV applications closed on 5 Sep 2026 and its ballot was held in September. Phase 5 applications closed on 15 Oct 2026.

## Key facts

- Hi-power subsidy: Rs 10 lakh
- 50-65 hp subsidy: Rs 7.5 lakh
- Hi-power land: 7+ acres
- Applications: Closed 15 Oct 2026

The CM Punjab green tractor scheme gives farmers a **subsidy on a new tractor**, chosen by digital ballot. In 2026-27 the hi-power round (Phase 5) gives **Rs 10 lakh** on a 75 to 125 hp tractor to farmers who own **at least 7 acres**. A second round gave **Rs 7.5 lakh** on 50 to 65 hp tractors to farmers with 5 acres or more. As of 18 October 2026, **both rounds are closed**: the hi-power deadline was 15 October 2026.

**Hi-power round (Phase 5):** Applications closed 15 Oct 2026 (The Agriculture Department's advertisement says the date to apply was extended to 15 October 2026. We found no ballot date or reopening notice as of 18 October 2026.)

## How much subsidy does the green tractor scheme give in 2026?

Punjab is running two rounds this financial year. Dawn reported **19,500 tractors** in total and **Rs 17.6 billion** set aside for the scheme.

| Round | Tractors | Horsepower | Subsidy per tractor | Minimum land owned | Applications |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Phase IV | 10,000 | 50 to 65 hp | Rs 7.5 lakh | 5 acres | 19 Aug to 5 Sep 2026 |
| Phase 5 (hi-power) | 9,500 | 75 to 125 hp | Rs 10 lakh | 7 acres | Opened 23 Sep, closed 15 Oct 2026 |

The subsidy is not a loan, but it doesn't cover the whole price. If you win the ballot, you pay **your share of the tractor price**, plus the registration fee, card fee, number plate fee and transfer fee, within the deadline in your allotment letter. We couldn't find an official price list for each model, so check the price with the Agriculture (Extension) office.

Dawn reported that the programme had already provided 24,000 tractors.

## Who qualifies for the green tractor scheme?

The Phase 5 application form sets these rules:

- You live in **Punjab** and have a valid computerised **CNIC**.
- You own **at least 7 acres** of agricultural land, verified in the land record (5 acres for the 50 to 65 hp round).
- You did **not** get a tractor in an earlier phase, the wheat campaign or a production competition.
- You are **not a Kissan Card dealer**.

The Agriculture Department can check your land and details through the revenue record or a field visit. Land is checked against PLRA records; see our guide to [checking your fard online in Punjab](/property/guides/fard-online-punjab/) if you aren't sure your land is on record.

## How do I apply for the green tractor scheme?

1. **Choose your tractor.** Pick the company, model and horsepower (75 to 125 hp for Phase 5). You can't change it after you apply.
2. **Apply online.** Use the portal at **gts.punjab.gov.pk**, or the link on the Agriculture Department's website, agripunjab.gov.pk.
3. **Or apply on paper.** If your mauza (revenue village) isn't computerised, get the free form from the Agriculture (Extension) office or download it. Attach a copy of your CNIC and your current fard, and submit it at the office of the Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension).
4. **Wait for the ballot.** Applications are verified with PLRA and NADRA, then a digital ballot picks winners within each district's quota.
5. **Collect your letter and pay.** Winners collect an offer or allotment letter from the Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension) office and pay their share by the deadline.

These steps come from the department's advertisement, press releases and the Phase 5 form. The gts.punjab.gov.pk portal refused our connection on 18 October 2026, so we couldn't check its status page or ballot results.

## How does the green tractor ballot work?

Demand is far higher than supply. For Phase IV, **213,637 farmers applied**, and **128,757** were declared eligible after PLRA and NADRA checks, Dawn reported, for 10,000 tractors. Each district's quota depends on its share of cultivated land.

Winners must act fast. The department's 8 October 2026 press release told Phase IV winners to collect their offer letter by **15 October 2026**, or their allotment would be cancelled. In Phase III, APP reported that tractors not paid for in time went to farmers on the **waiting list**.

**Rules after you get the tractor:** The Phase 5 form says the tractor stays registered in your name for at least 3 years. Selling it before then is an offence, and you would have to repay the subsidy. The government can also withdraw the subsidy, or cancel your application if it finds irregularities.

## Is the green tractor scheme still open in 2026?

No, not as of 18 October 2026:

- **5 Sep 2026:** Phase IV (50 to 65 hp) applications closed, after a final extension from 31 August.
- **23 Sep 2026:** the Chief Minister held the Phase IV ballot and opened Phase 5 applications, Dawn reported.
- **15 Oct 2026:** Phase 5 (hi-power) applications closed, after an extension.

We found no date for the Phase 5 ballot. For updates, call the agricultural helpline **0800-17000**, open daily from 8am to 8pm. Apply only through gts.punjab.gov.pk, agripunjab.gov.pk or the Agriculture (Extension) office.
