# Akhuwat loan: who qualifies, how much and how to apply

## Summary

An Akhuwat loan is an **interest-free** loan from Akhuwat Islamic Microfinance (AIM) for low-income families. You can borrow **Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000** to start or grow a small business or for farming, or **Rs 1 lakh to Rs 15 lakh** to repair or extend a house. You need a CNIC, an age of 18 to 62 and two guarantors from outside your family. You apply **in person at an Akhuwat branch**, not online. Figures are from Akhuwat's website, as of October 2026.

## What loans does Akhuwat give?

Akhuwat lists three loan products. All are Qarz-e-Hasan, a loan you repay without interest or profit.

The **family enterprise loan** is for setting up a new business or expanding one you already run. The **agriculture loan** is for small farmers, including landless farmers and tenants, to buy farm inputs and meet related costs.

Akhuwat's pages don't publish monthly instalments, so ask the branch what yours would be before you sign.

## Can I get an Akhuwat loan for a house?

Yes, if your family is poor and lives on land or in a house of **up to 5 marla**, and your household has grown to **8 or more people**. The housing loan pays for repairs and for building rooms, roofs or walls. It runs from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 15 lakh over 36 to 108 months, which is up to nine years.

## Who is eligible for an Akhuwat loan?

Akhuwat's loan process page sets these conditions:

- a valid **CNIC**
- age **18 to 62**
- the ability to start or expand a business activity
- no criminal conviction
- a good social and moral character in your community
- **two guarantors** who are not family members
- you live in the area the branch serves, which may be about a **5 km radius** around it

The branch may ask for more documents, depending on the loan.

## How do I apply for an Akhuwat loan?

To find your branch, use the **branch finder** on akhuwat.org.pk. It lists branches in Punjab, Sindh, KPK, Balochistan, AJ&K and Gilgit-Baltistan, with a contact name and mobile number for each. Akhuwat says it runs loan drives from mosques, temples and churches, and lends without regard to religion or politics.

**There is no online Akhuwat loan form:** Every page of akhuwat.org.pk carries a notice in Urdu: Akhuwat does not accept online loan applications, loans are given only from its offices, and you should beware of fraudsters. SECP's list of illegal lending apps includes Facebook ads that falsely used the Akhuwat name. A paid press release in February 2026 promoted an "online application" on akhuwat.web.pk, which is not Akhuwat's own website.

## How can I check my Akhuwat loan status?

We found no online status check on Akhuwat's website. Ask the branch that took your application. For complaints, email complaints@akhuwat.org.pk or write to the head office at 19 Civic Center, Sector A2, Township, Lahore.

## Is Akhuwat better than other loans?

On cost, it is hard to beat: Akhuwat charges no interest and lists only an application fee of up to Rs 1,000. The catch is the process: you need two guarantors, a branch near your home, and three appraisals before the committee decides.

Akhuwat says it has recovered **98.65%** of its loans (as of 30 September 2026). Another line on the same page says 99.9%, and we use the dated figure.

### Can I apply for an Akhuwat loan online?

No. Akhuwat's own website says it does not accept online loan applications and gives loans only through its offices. Websites, apps and Facebook ads offering an online Akhuwat form are not Akhuwat's.
