# How to earn money online in Pakistan: what actually pays, how you get paid, and which apps are scams

**How to earn money online in Pakistan comes down to one test: the money comes from a platform or client with published rules.** That means freelancing on **Fiverr** or **Upwork**, selling on **Daraz**, **Etsy** or **Amazon**, a **YouTube** channel, or exporting software. **PayPal isn't available in Pakistan**, so the money reaches you by bank transfer or **Payoneer**. Apps that ask for a deposit first, or pay you to bring in others, fall under what SECP calls unlawful.

**The one rule:** Real work pays you; scams ask you to pay first (SECP: deposit-taking, referral marketing, MLM and Ponzi schemes are unlawful under s.301, Companies Act 2017.)

## How do I start freelancing from Pakistan?

**Fiverr** pays you **80%** of each completed order, after the client's payment clears. It pays Pakistani freelancers through **Payoneer**, for $1 to $3 a withdrawal. **Upwork** can pay rupees straight into a Pakistani bank account for **$0.99** a withdrawal. ## Can I sell online from Pakistan without a shop?

**Daraz** says there's no listing fee; it takes a commission on each order that depends on the category. **Etsy** lists Pakistan as a country where sellers join Etsy Payments with a Payoneer account, and charges a **6.5% + $0.30** payment processing fee per order. **Amazon** accepts sellers from Pakistan, but doesn't pay out to Pakistani banks, so sellers use a provider such as Payoneer.

## How does dropshipping work in Pakistan?

Most local dropshipping is reselling: you sell a supplier's products and the supplier ships them cash on delivery. Markaz, a Pakistani reseller platform, says most COD orders on it carry about **Rs 165 delivery** plus a **Rs 50** cash-handling fee. ## Can I earn from YouTube or TikTok in Pakistan?

**YouTube, yes.** Pakistan is on YouTube's Partner Program list. You earn from ads after **1,000 subscribers** plus **4,000 watch hours** in 12 months (or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days). **TikTok, mostly through brand deals.** TikTok's Creator Rewards Program has terms for eight countries, and Pakistan isn't one. ## Can I export software or IT services from Pakistan?

Yes, as a company or a freelancer. When a foreign client pays, your bank deducts **0.25%** tax if you're registered with PSEB, or **1%** if not. Under SBP rules you can keep **50%** of export proceeds or **$5,000 a month**, whichever is higher, in a dollar account. ## How do I get paid for online work in Pakistan?

**PayPal isn't on PayPal's own list of countries** (checked 16 October 2026), so don't build your plan around it. The routes that work:

- **Direct to your bank**: Upwork's Direct to Local Bank, or AdSense wire transfers.
- **Payoneer**: Fiverr, Etsy and Amazon all pay through it, and you withdraw to a Pakistani bank.

**Tax**: freelancers exporting IT services pay 0.25% or 1% when the money lands. Creators paid by YouTube, TikTok or other platforms have **5%** deducted (10% for non-filers) under section 154B since July 2026. ## Which online earning apps are scams?

We found no SECP, PTA or FIA notice that names "earn by watching ads" or "online typing" apps one by one. What official warnings do describe is the pattern those apps follow:

**If an app asks you to pay first, stop:** SECP says raising deposits from the public and paying people for recruiting others are unlawful under section 301 of the Companies Act, 2017. In September 2026 the FIA arrested two people in Faisalabad accused of taking money from about 4,000 people through an online investment scheme, ProPakistani reported.

**Where to report**: Digital Rights Monitor's report on the CERT advisory points people to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency at **complaint.nccia.gov.pk**, PTA's complaints page, or CERT at pkcert.gov.pk.
