# Data entry jobs in Pakistan: the registration-fee scam, and where real data entry work is

**Most "online data entry jobs in Pakistan" that ask you to pay a registration fee first fit the pattern of fraud cases, as of October 2026.** In October 2025 the NCCIA arrested **eight people in Multan** over a fake institute that sold online jobs for registration fees. Real data entry work comes from clients on **Fiverr** or **Upwork**, or from employers on job boards such as **Rozee.pk**, where most listings are office jobs.

**The one rule:** A real job pays you; a scam asks you to pay first (Fees, 'deposits to unlock' and recruit-to-earn are the patterns in NCCIA, FIA and SECP cases.)

## Are online data entry jobs in Pakistan real?

Some are, but not in the form most ads describe. We found no FIA, PTA or SECP notice that uses the words "data entry". What their cases and warnings describe is the pattern behind fake typing and data entry offers:

**How a data entry scam usually runs:** You see a home-based typing or data entry ad. You're asked for a registration or training fee, or added to a WhatsApp group. A small first payment builds trust; e2click paid out a few thousand rupees in profits, and the Faisalabad scheme paid small returns first. Then you're asked to deposit more to unlock your earnings. SECP says fake platforms show false balances, allow small withdrawals first, then push for bigger deposits and block accounts.

## How can I tell if a data entry job is fake?

Walk away if any of these is true:

- you must **pay before you start**: a registration, training or security fee
- you earn by **bringing in other people**, which SECP calls unlawful referral marketing under section 301 of the Companies Act 2017
- your "earnings" sit in an app balance and you must **deposit more to withdraw**
- the offer came from an **unknown WhatsApp or Telegram** group, or a stranger on LinkedIn
- they want your **CNIC, photos or location** before any interview
- the company says it is "SECP registered" as proof; SECP says registration doesn't allow a company to take deposits

PTA's advice is to be wary of job offers not posted by credible, verified organisations.

## Where can I find real data entry work in Pakistan?

**Freelance platforms.** Fiverr's Data Entry category listed **more than 63,000 services** on 24 October 2026, in subcategories such as data typing, copy paste, web research and data conversion. The best-selling gigs on its first page were priced from **$20 to $110**. Fiverr pays you **80%** of each completed order. **Job boards.** Rozee.pk showed **92** data entry jobs on 24 October 2026. Of the first 20, almost all were day-shift jobs at named employers in Karachi, Lahore, Sialkot and other cities, mostly as data entry operators. Where a salary was shown, it was **Rs 14,000 to Rs 45,000 a month**. Before you apply, check that the company exists and never pay to be interviewed.

## What do data entry jobs in Pakistan actually involve?

On job boards, the title is usually **data entry operator**, an office job. Rozee.pk listings describe tasks such as entering data into spreadsheets and checking it against source documents. On freelance platforms, clients order data typing, copy paste work, web research and data conversion.

## Can students and women do data entry from home?

Yes, through freelance platforms, where the client pays the platform and the platform pays you. The competition is heavy: more than 63,000 data entry services are listed on Fiverr alone. Most Rozee.pk data entry jobs we saw were office jobs, not remote.

If you're offered a "home job" in a WhatsApp group, treat it with care. PTA and National CERT have both warned that fake job offers are used to collect photos, ID and money.

## How do I get paid and taxed for freelance data entry?
